Next year’s show will be May 3-4, 2025

Arts in the Park is a juried art show held outdoors in beautiful Byrd Park, the largest park in Richmond, Virginia. The annual event is sponsored by the Carillon Civic Association and promoted by newspapers, radio, television, trade magazines, trade websites and social media throughout Virginia. Historically the event has drawn large crowds leading to continual recognition by Virginia Living Magazine and Richmond Magazine as “The Best Place in Richmond to Buy Art”.

Arts in the Park will feature 350+ artists.

The Carillon Civic Association, a not-for-profit organization, strives to produce an event that is fun, family friendly, and fruitful for the artists and visitors. The event is free to the public and a large portion of the fees collected are donated back to the community!

ELIGIBLE WORKS

  1. Artists must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. All works must be an original creations of the artist… imaginative, creative and produced by you. Paintings: Oil, Acrylic Watercolor; Drawings; Prints; Sculpture; Pottery; Wood; Leather; Jewelry; Fibers; Metal; Leaded Glass; Photography, and all crafts and arts works considered to be in the Fine Arts category are acceptable. No Agents. No Food Vendors.
  3. Unacceptable to the show are mass produced items, dealers, or middlemen.  No buy/sale in any category, gourmet foods, dealers, middlemen, manufactured items, greenware, kits, or work other than that produced by the exhibitor, bazaar crafts, also crocheting, knitting, decoupage, candies or manufactured wearing apparel are not eligible to be exhibited. This is a show for artists and not a show for commercialism or dealers. FINAL INTERPRETATION OF COMMERCIAL STATUS WILL BE MADE BY THE ARTS IN THE PARK RULES COMMITTEE.
  4. This is a family-oriented show. Please keep this in mind when you are choosing work to be displayed.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND RULES

1. Submit the completed application, with photos and checks. The application and high- resolution photographs can be emailed. All applicants must submit 4 photos; 3 of your work and 1 photo of your display/booth. Entry fees must be mailed to 3007 Sunset Avenue, Richmond, VA 23221. Please include the artists’ name on checks which are drawn on business accounts so they can be properly identified and processed.

2. The show will close when all the spaces are sold. Usually by January 15th.

3. Once the jury process is complete, artists will be notified by email of acceptance to the show. An accepted application is a commitment to show, and NO refunds will be given for cancellations. If an artist is not accepted to the show the booth fee will be refunded.

4. No exhibitor may swap or resell space to another exhibitor. The event committee reserves the right to reassign your space if you have not checked in by 9:30 AM on Saturday, the first day of the event.

5. Arts in the Park is a “rain or shine” event. NO refunds will be issued due to inclement weather.

6. Artists must remain set up for the entire two days. Coming late or leaving early will jeopardize your ability to return.

7. All work must be original and created by display artist.

8. Exhibitors displaying work different from what was originally accepted and shown in their photos will be asked to leave the event without a refund. Artists violating the rules will not be eligible for future events.

9. Space assignments will be sent out 3 (three) weeks before the event along with directions and other pertinent information. Returning exhibitors may request their previous booth or a change on their application. Space assignments are subject to change and if a change is made, you will be notified as soon as possible.

10. All spaces are approximately 10’ X 10’, roped and preassigned. Products and displays may not extend beyond the boundaries of an assigned space (including tent poles and stakes). Park trees cannot be used for display purposes. Electricity is not available, and generators are not permitted.

11. Each exhibitor must provide their own display racks or tables and chairs. Tents are strongly suggested.

12. Exhibitors will be expected to set up between 8 AM and 10 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Display equipment and tents may be set up Friday, May 3, 2024. Make sure you know your booth number and do not drive or park on the park grounds. Please respect all parking and no parking signs.

13. Each exhibitor is responsible for collecting Virginia sales tax on all show sales. A form will be provided in the check-in packet.

14. An event program of event exhibitors will be available.

15. Port-a-toilets and food concessions will be available.

16. Complimentary coffee and donuts will be available for exhibitors on Saturday and Sunday morning from 8:30-11 A.M.

17. The Arts in the Park Committee, Carillon Civic Association, City of Richmond, Department of Recreation and Parks will NOT be responsible for loss or damage to persons or properties including works of art.
